Late Night TV Causes 40% Increase In Chip Consumption
In a story from Consumer Reports On Health, 45 adults were asked to eat potato chips for five minutes with the TV off, and five minutes with the TV turned to Leno or Letterman.
It turns out that our little chippers ate 44% more chips watching Letterman and 42% more chips watching Leno.
The experts think they ate more because they were distracted. Hence they were not tuned into the flavor, which we all know is the main reason we stop eating. Yeah it's the flavor. The less flavor, the less satiated you feel.
While experts may recommend turning off the TV to cut your risk of overeating, in fairness, I've had some pretty mediocre pizza in my day, and all I can say is thank God for TV.
