Tired Of Hearing That We Can't Afford Health Care?
Songwriter-comedian Chris Jones, who performs under the name “Jonesy†will make you chuckle over this health parody song. If you've seen Michael Moore's Sicko, it won't surprise you to see this video. It appears that humor is the best we can do these days in dealing with the deplorable lack to access for health care in the U.S.
While humor may take the edge off our collective suffering, I think Michael Moore hit the nail on the head in Sicko when he asked, "Who are we?" I find myself asking that all the time. Who are we being such that we're willing to submit to this?
Can't afford it?!! We're already paying. We've been paying for years. We can see the results of all around us: endangered species, global warming, corn fed cows and school kids, genetically modified food, processed food like substances and industrial agriculture disappearing rain forests and ice sheets. Superman isn't coming. It's just us.
We think we're still at the top of the food chain but the planet has other news. We're the ones hanging on for dear life on the bottom rung of the ladder. I say it's time we demand to be healthy. Playing the "Is It Healthy?" Game might be a good place to start. Wouldn't it be great if we lived in a world where "health" was the highest value? I'll take it any day over singing "If I Had Health Care".
